1. Yut Kee Restaurant

Yut Kee Restaurant is the oldest Kopitiam names in KL and is also one of the famous breakfast spots to go for both locals and tourists in KL. Yut Kee Restaurant has been serving up traditional Hainanese fare since 1928. They are serving a simple, authentic meal and there’s no pre-made food or drinks, everything is made upon order. You must try their famous kaya butter toast, self-made kaya lathered between toasty bread with a side of butter, very nice. Besides, you should also try their chicken chop, pork chop and butter cake as well if you’re having the brunch.

2. RESTAURANT FUL LAI

Dim Sum is very popular Chinese breakfast dishes, it served in the bamboo baskets. Restaurant Ful Lai is quite popular, and is patronised by a set of loyal local regulars. You should enjoy the popular dim sum dishes such as har gaw (rice paper dumplings filled with shrimp), siew mai(pork-stuffed) or chee cheong fun(rice noodle roll filled with shrimp, beef, or other ingredients).

3. ROTI CANAI @ TEA MANSION STALL

If you haven’t tried the ‘Special’ here, you haven’t tried roti canai the right way at all. Priced at RM4.50 is their Roti Banjir Special unlike any other. Wobbly eggs, chopped roti canai drenched in dhal, curry, and sambal, freshly made and served within minutes of ordering topped with two half boiled eggs. Perfect for morning, night, rainy, moody, happy, basically any day!!! 4. AH WENG KOH HAINAN TEA & COFFEE

Similar to egg on toast for the English, Malaysian have fondly considered roti bakar with egg and Kopi’O as their perfect go-to breakfast. When nothing else can spice things up, runny eggs on buttery toast gulped down with a thick yet creamy coffee will just do the trick and Ah Weng Koh Hainan Tea & Coffee provides both experience and classic taste with 50 years of experience.           Besides their signature Hainan Coffee, Hainan Tea (RM2.40) is a must-have of smooth, aromatic milk tea beneath the bubbly foam. On bites, get the Signature Kaya Butter Toast (RM2.40) if you like your bread crisp or the Kaya Margarine Bun (RM2.40) if you prefer it soft and pillowy. 5. NYONYA KUIH @ AH MUN (LUCKY GARDEN)

Whoever said sweet things are only meant for desserts? Offer any Malaysian some Nyonya Kuih and they would kiss you with smiles! Instigated by the Peranakan Folks, basically, Chinese people who embraced local cultures (Malay) into their lifestyle which includes language, fashion, and architecture, Nyonya Kuih is a proud invention that we choose to surrender our sweet tooth upon.
 
Right outside Nam Chun restaurant in Lucky Garden, you will find Ah Mun peddling kuih on his motorcycle at 3 pm every day. Lee Yeok Choi, a vendor for over 40 years has been capturing the hearts of the neighborhood with his beautifully-made kuih. If you happen to be in the area, don’t forget to stop by and pay him a visit.
He’s usually there for about 2-3 hours before he sells out.

6. THONG KEE HAINAN COFFEE SHOP 

Rich coffee, crispy croissants and a hearty breakfast set that will not break your bank account. Originated in Bentong, Pahang, it is well known for their soft and buttery croissants as well. Similar to Cham but there is a twist, it has a higher ratio of tea than coffee which makes it sweeter than usual but still getting your daily dose of caffeine! 7. CHONG KO HAKKA NOODLE

Quality usually deteriorates after being passed down from generation to generation but Chong Ko Hakka Mee avoided this demise. Consistency is key when it comes to flavors and they never disappoint since 1955. Self – made noodle is their unique selling point and they are super springy and chewy that makes you want more. 8. MAK JAH CORNER

Desserts for breakfast to kick off your morning and like true Malaysians, when kuih muih is offered, we surrender. A breakfast galore lies in this corner stall and nothing beats the aroma of nasi lemak and traditional delicacies. Roti canai, Rendang daging, sotong and laksa – there is something for everyone! Due to insufficient seats, you might want to reach here a little earlier but hey, that adds another reason to become a morning person. 9. FOONG FOONG YONG TAU FOO

No doubt when someone asks what is there to eat in Ampang, the first food that comes to mind is Yong Tau Foo. Start you cheat day with a satisfying breakfast of freshly made stuffed ingredients and fried dumplings that are enough to last till lunch time. We know this may not be the healthiest option but you can always burn those calories away! Good food on the other hand is challenging to find. 10. RA-FT CAFE / BISTRO BINJAI 8 | COFFEE ROASTERS

The list isn’t complete without highlighting an “atas” breakfast spot for all you foodies. This Western-Italian restaurant with a splash of Asian influence specializes in coffee roasting by using green beans and we understand that getting  caffeine in your system in the early morning is imperative for coffee addicts. Putting their heart and soul into making their food scrumptious, you can try out Ra Ft’s favourite ‘all-in breakfast’ or you can settle for ‘create your own breakfast’ menu  to suit your liking!
